Permits for Upper Mustang Jeep Tour
To travel to Upper Mustang in Nepal, two permits are required: the Restricted Area Permit and the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP). Upper Mustang has been a restricted area for a long time, so sites such as caves, monasteries, and Gumpas are protected. The Restricted Area Permit has a specific time limit, while the ACAP does not. This means you can use the ACAP until you check out at mentioning checkpoint. For the Restricted Area Permit, you can stay for 10 days for a fee of USD 500. After the initial 10 days, the cost is USD 50 per day. The check-in point for the ACAP is Ghasa, while the check-in point for the Restricted Area Permit is Ghami. The fees for the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit vary based on nationality: SAARC countries pay NPR 1000, while foreign nationals pay NPR 3000. The cost for the Restricted Area Permit is USD 500 and is the same for all nationalities, payable in equivalent NPR.
