Pashupatinath Temple:- One of Kathmandu's oldest Religious and Historical sites, Pashupatinath Temple was listed on UNESCO Heritage in 1979 A.D. The Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and his wife Parvati. The Temple is considered the abode of Lord Shiva in the Skanda Purana and is also one of the Paadal Petra Sthalams (Tamil Tevara Sthalam) of Tevaram. The linga of Pashupatinath, as described in the Shiva Purana, is the bestower of all wishes. The temple is worshipped as the head of Shiva with his body in Kashi Vishwanath in India, and is also spiritually connected to the temples of Kedarnath, Rudranath, Kalpeshwar, Madhyamaheshwar, and Tungnath as per the legend of the Mahabharata. The main temple priests are, as a tradition, VedicDravida Brahmin scholars from Karnataka educated by Śrī Śaṅkarāćārya Dakṣiṇāmnāya Pīṭha, Sringeri.
Bouddhanath Stupa:- Bouddhanath Stupa is the oldest and largest Buddhist Stupa in the World. Located 2 km North of Pashupatinath temple, the stupa gave birth to Tibetan Buddhism. In ancient times, Tibetan businessmen came here to trade their goods. Nowadays, it is one of the attractive tourist destinations as well as a spiritual site. The circumambulation of the stupa is called Kora or Parikarma in ritual language, in a clockwise direction, spinning prayer wheels as part of traditional practices.
Swayambhunath Stupa:- Another Buddhist stupa is Swayambhunath Stupa. Located 4km west of Thamel, Swayambhunath Stupa is a combination of Hindu and Buddhist sites. It is located at the top of a hill. The site is attracting international and domestic tourists. The trail is full of Prayer flags and steep. The Stupa is at the jungle cliff, so many monkeys are there, so most popularly known as Monkey Temple.
Kathmandu Durbar Square:- With an abundance of Cultural and historical sites, Kathmandu Durbar Square is one of the tourist destinations of Nepal. Listed as a UNESCO Heritage site, Kathmandu Durbar Square is a captivating blend of palaces, temples, and courtyards that showcase Nepal's rich cultural heritage and Newari architecture. The site is home to 50 other temples, including the residence of the living Goddess "Kumari Ghar", old monuments, and the Palace. It is the starting point for many local festivals of Newari festivals.
Thamel:- Being one of the tourist hubs, Thamel is another tourist destination of Kathmandu. Many tourists explore Thamel for local shopping, enjoy Nepali Traditional Food, trekking gear, and souvenirs for friends and family. Chandragiri:- Chandragiri Bhaleshwor Mahadev Temple, located 25km south of Kathmandu, revered Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. The tourist can experience a cable car (Ropeway) in Kathmandu. As it is at the hillcliff so you can enjoy the peaks of some famous peaks like Mount Everest, Mount Gaurishankar, Mount Langtang, and others. You can also experience ziplining and rope-cycling.
